In a rural home east of Huntsville, Arkansas, the bodies of 49-year-old Lori Newman, a female, and 46-year-old Michael Gilman were discovered on the evening of Sunday, December 12, 2021. The grim finding was made by an individual who had gone to the couple's residence on Madison County Road 2361 to make a purchase.
Upon their arrival, the person found the deceased and immediately alerted the authorities.
Investigators learned that a friend of the couple, who resided in Idaho, had been trying to reach them daily and had last been in contact in late November of that year. Concerned for their welfare, the friend had previously contacted the authorities on December 8th.
Special agents from the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division were called to the scene and have taken the lead in the investigation. At the time of the discovery, the cause of death for either Lori Newman or Michael Gilman was not immediately apparent. Their bodies were subsequently transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for autopsies to determine the manner and cause of their deaths. As of the initial reports, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths is ongoing.
