In the quiet community of Mountain View, Arkansas, a tragic event unfolded on April 21, 2022, shattering the peace of the rural area. On that day, 75-year-old William Clinton Trammell, a male, was found deceased in his home from gunshot wounds. His wife, Sharon Trammell, aged 72, was also discovered deceased at their residence, a victim of the same violent act.
The devastating discovery did not end there, as law enforcement was also called to a nearby home on the same day.
At a separate residence, approximately a quarter of a mile away, two more victims were found. Shirley Watters, 77, and her son, James Watters, 55, had also been fatally shot. The four deaths, occurring in two separate homes in such close proximity, sent shockwaves through the community and prompted an intensive investigation led by the Stone County Sheriff's Office and the Arkansas State Police. The authorities worked to piece together the events that led to the deaths of the four individuals.
The investigation soon focused on a single suspect: Donnie Lee Trammell, the son of William and Sharon Trammell. In May 2022, he was arrested and charged with four counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of his parents and their neighbors. At the time of his arrest for the murders, Donnie Trammell was already incarcerated on unrelated probation violations.
In March 2024, the case came to a conclusion when Donnie Lee Trammell pleaded guilty to the four counts of first-degree murder. As a result of his guilty plea, he was sentenced to 60 years in the Arkansas Division of Correction, bringing a close to the legal proceedings surrounding the deaths of William Clinton Trammell and the three other victims.
