In the quiet community of Mountain View, Arkansas, the life of 55-year-old James Cecil Watters, a United States Army veteran, was brought to a tragic and violent end on April 21, 2022. On that Thursday, Watters and his 77-year-old mother, Shirley Gail Watters, were discovered deceased in their home on Northcutt Road. Both had been fatally shot. The grim discovery of the mother and son was the beginning of a larger, more shocking revelation for the small Stone County community.
