James B. “Jimmy” Wilson Jr., 24, a white male, was working an evening shift in Omaha on August 20, 1995 when a routine stop became an ambush. Shortly after radioing in a van with fictitious plates, he was attacked before he could even step from his cruiser. Two occupants spilled from the van near 40th and Blondo and opened fire with an AK-47 rifle and a 9 mm pistol, striking him as he sat belted in with his microphone still in his hand.
