In the autumn of 2013, the life of a young Black / African American man, Julius Vaughn, was tragically cut short at the age of 19. On the night of October 18, 2013, in Omaha, Nebraska, Vaughn was discovered deceased inside a vehicle parked near an apartment building at 23rd and Vinton Streets. First responders, arriving at the scene around 9:45 p.m., found that he had been fatally shot.
