On November 18, 2024, at approximately 12:20 p.m., Houston police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of a strip center located at 1050 West Rankin Road. Upon arrival, they discovered 34-year-old Anthony Garrett suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services transported Garrett to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
