On November 29, 2024, at approximately 12:55 a.m., 69-year-old Leon Ratcliff was fatally shot in the 2600 block of Melbourne Street in north Houston. Officers responding to the scene found Ratcliff unresponsive in the roadway with a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention and transport to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, he was pronounced deceased.
Investigations revealed that Ratcliff and 64-year-old Marcus Tucker had engaged in an argument in the street, which escalated into the fatal shooting. Witnesses reported that Ratcliff was being followed by a black SUV when unknown occupants began shooting at him. Ratcliff collapsed, and the SUV fled the scene.
Marcus Tucker was arrested on November 30, 2024, and charged with murder in connection with Ratcliff's death. He was booked into the Harris County Jail, with a bond not yet set at the time of reporting. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
