Michael Dent, a 36-year-old Black man from Dallas, Texas, was killed in December 2024. His death prompted a two-month homicide investigation that resulted in an arrest.
On the afternoon of December 2, 2024, Dallas Police responded to a shooting call at about 2:10 p.m. in the 1600 block of John West Road. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot. The man, later identified as Mr.
Dent, died at the scene from his injuries.
The Dallas Police Department began investigating the case, with the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office assisting in identifying the victim. On December 5, authorities formally identified the man as Michael Dent. As the investigation continued, detectives asked for anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
After two months of investigation, police made an arrest in the case. On February 5, 2025, Dallas Police arrested 42-year-old Jeffery Adair for the offense. Adair was charged with Murder in connection with Michael Dent's death.
As of February 2025, the case was proceeding through the court system.
