In the quiet community of Callaway, Virginia, the life of 30-year-old Brandon Antonie Holland was abruptly cut short on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Holland was tragically shot and killed in the early morning hours at his home, a violent end to a life that had been deeply rooted in the Franklin County area. Born in nearby Rocky Mount, he was a husband and a father figure to his wife's children.
The investigation into Holland's death quickly evolved into a homicide case, leading to a
series of arrests over the following months. Shortly after the shooting, authorities took 37-year-old Antonio Maurice Payne of Lebanon into custody, charging him with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
As the investigation continued, a second suspect, 18-year-old Jamarion Nazier Dunnings, was arrested on December 18, 2024. He faced charges of non-capital second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The case saw a third arrest on February 3, 2025, when 58-year-old Jeffrey Lynn Overstreet of Callaway was apprehended. A grand jury indicted Overstreet on multiple felony charges, including conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, non-capital first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and maliciously discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling. All three men were held without bond as the investigation remained ongoing. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive for the killing or the specific roles each of the accused allegedly played.
