In the early morning hours of December 4, 2024, the life of 40-year-old Trivell Donte' Lamar Richardson was tragically cut short. A Black male from North Charleston, South Carolina, Richardson was discovered unresponsive on the floor of a residence on Iron Street, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The call came in at approximately 3:43 a.m., prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
Paramedics arrived to find Richardson in critical condition.
He was swiftly transported to the Medical University of South Carolina in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite the efforts of the medical team, Richardson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 4:35 a.m. The North Charleston Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting, working to piece together the events that led to the violence.
For several weeks, the case remained under active investigation with no suspects publicly identified. Then, on December 27, 2024, a breakthrough was announced. In a collaborative effort, the North Charleston Police Department and the U.S. Marshals located and arrested a suspect in connection with Richardson's death. The individual, whose identity has not been released, was taken into custody and has been charged with murder. The suspect is currently being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center in Charleston County as the investigation continues.
