In the small community of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, a grim discovery was made on December 18, 2024. Fifty-seven-year-old John Elkins, a local resident, was found deceased near Slater Road and Rock Hill Cemetery Road. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound. McCurtain County deputies were the first to respond to reports of a shooting and upon their arrival, Elkins was pronounced dead at the scene.
