In the small town of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, the life of 27-year-old Colton Ross Butler was tragically cut short in March of 2025. A male who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, he was known for his deep love for music, not just as a listener, but as a creator, writing and singing his own songs. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his children, Braylon and Tae'Zon Butler, and his younger brother, Carter Daniels.
Colton was a dedicated worker, having been employed in
maintenance at Tri-Lakes and more recently at PSSI-Tyson Foods. His life, however, came to a violent end on or around March 23, 2025, when he became a victim of gun violence in his hometown. The circumstances surrounding the incident prompted an investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
In the wake of the tragedy that shook the community, law enforcement officials made an arrest in connection with Colton's death. A suspect was taken into custody, bringing a small measure of hope for justice to his grieving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, LaSonya Butler and Darren E. Byrd. He left behind a loving family, including his grandmothers, Lois Butler and Thelma Johnson, who were instrumental in his upbringing, as well as several siblings, aunts, and uncles who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
