On November 18, 2024, 19-year-old Aminah Michelle Guy was found deceased in a Cary, North Carolina, residence, along with her boyfriend, 19-year-old Xavier Neil Holton, and his mother, 54-year-old Erica Alyse Holton. All three victims had sustained gunshot wounds. The discovery was made by Erica Holton's husband, Shawn Certain, who arrived home to find his wife and Aminah unresponsive. He immediately contacted emergency services, expressing concern over a potential burglary. During the 911 call, he mentioned hearing two loud pops before the call abruptly ended.
Investigations revealed that Xavier Holton had recently purchased the firearm used in the incident. Authorities were aware of his mental health struggles, as the family had shared these concerns with them. However, it remains unclear if these issues played a role in the tragic event.
The community mourned the loss of Aminah, who was remembered for her bright smile, contagious joy, and tenacious spirit. She was an honor roll student at Athens Drive High School and had aspirations to attend North Carolina Central University, following in the footsteps of several family members. Her mother, Angela Guy, expressed shock and grief over the loss, stating that Aminah had many dreams she wanted to accomplish.
As of now, there have been no arrests or charges related to this incident. The Cary Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
