On the morning of December 2, 2024, Robeson County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 1400 block of Williamson Road in Fairmont, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 71-year-old William Pressley deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

The investigation led to the arrest of Pressley's brother, 69-year-old Lacey Cole Jr., who was present at the scene. Cole was charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and dischargin ...
