On December 8, 2024, Israel Maldonado, a 14-year-old from Whiting, Indiana, was fatally shot in the South Chicago neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. in the 8800 block of South Houston Avenue. Maldonado suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including injuries to his neck, chest, back, and hand. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
