In the pre-dawn hours of Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2024, the quiet of a Kennesaw, Georgia, neighborhood was broken by a grim discovery. Thirty-five-year-old Casey M. Plumb, a White male from the nearby city of Acworth, was found deceased, lying in the roadway at the intersection of Moon Station Road and Bayswater Drive. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Born in Denver, Colorado, on May 12, 1989, Casey Plumb had spent most of his life in Georgia's Cherokee and Cobb
counties. He was a skilled plumber by trade and was remembered by loved ones as a generous and caring man who would give a stranger the shirt off his back. His passions included fishing, hunting, and gold panning. Having overcome past struggles with addiction, he was reportedly looking forward to a bright future that was tragically cut short.
The investigation into Plumb's death moved swiftly. Kennesaw Police Department detectives, utilizing witness statements and technology, quickly identified a primary suspect. Two days later, on November 30, 2024, they arrested 34-year-old Dain Mark Ryner of Powder Springs in connection with the shooting. An arrest warrant indicated that Ryner allegedly shot Plumb in the head and arm while Plumb was in a vehicle.
Ryner was taken into custody and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond. He faces serious charges, including felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
