On December 20, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a shooting at 2727 McCarty Town Road in Quinton, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 64-year-old Floyd John Franklin suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite efforts by Copeland Ferry Fire & Rescue, Franklin was pronounced deceased at the scene.
