In the small community of Quinton, Alabama, a tragic event unfolded on the evening of Friday, December 20, 2024, ending the life of 64-year-old Floyd John Franklin. Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence on McCarty Town Road at approximately 8:15 p.m. following a report of a person shot.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered a male victim, later identified as Franklin, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services from Copeland Ferry Fire & Rescue were also at the scene and pronounced Franklin deceased. The fatal incident occurred at Franklin's own home at 2727 McCarty Town Road.
In the wake of the shooting, investigators identified 32-year-old Alexander Nalley as the suspect. Nalley was subsequently taken into custody and has been charged with Intentional Murder. He is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
