On January 19, 2023, 32-year-old Matthew Douglas Perrigin was fatally shot during an attempted vehicle robbery in Quinton, Alabama. The incident occurred around 5:20 a.m. on Hill Drive, where Perrigin and two other individuals were targeted. The assailants, identified as 36-year-old Corey Ryan Mahaffey and his 16-year-old son, Kaison Ryan Mahaffey, allegedly attempted to steal a car from the victims, leading to a confrontation that resulted in gunfire.
