On January 14, 2023, at approximately 11:15 a.m., Houston police officers responded to a reported shooting at 28 De Boll Street in north Houston. Upon arrival, paramedics informed them that 23-year-old Alexis Falcon had been found deceased in a bedroom, having suffered at least one gunshot wound.
Investigators determined that Falcon had been shot by her boyfriend, 21-year-old Keita Neyusi Albert.
Albert was detained at the scene and subsequently charged with murder in the 339th State District Court. At the time of the incident, Albert was out on bond for an unrelated aggravated assault charge. He was booked into the Harris County Jail, where he was held without bond pending a hearing.
Family members described Falcon as a loving and kind young woman who was employed at McDonald's. They noted that she and Albert had been in an on-and-off relationship since high school. Relatives expressed shock and grief over her death, with her mother stating, "I knew she wasn’t OK, but we couldn’t get help; we didn’t know how."
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined that Falcon's primary cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. Albert's prior criminal history and the circumstances of Falcon's death have raised concerns about the effectiveness of the criminal justice system in preventing domestic violence. As of the latest available information, Albert remains in custody awaiting trial for the murder charge.
