On February 6, 2023, 61-year-old U.S. Army veteran Warren Edward Rogers was found dead from a gunshot wound in his residence on West Mims Street in Tyler, Texas.
Following months of investigation, on August 18, 2023, Tyler Police charged three individuals with capital murder in connection to Rogers' death: Herbert Simpson, 54; Stephanie Brasher, 42; and Anthony Taylor, 48.
The investigation revealed that Rogers was killed during a drug exchange that escalated into a robbery.
In December 2024, Herbert Simpson was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole for his role in Rogers' death.
The cases against Brasher and Taylor remain pending.
