On February 16, 2023, 40-year-old James Owen Kincheloe was found deceased at Don Johle's Bike World, located at 5513 Broadway Blvd in Garland, Texas. A fellow employee arriving to open the store discovered the doors locked but internal metal gates open, prompting concern. Upon entering, officers found Kincheloe's body in the break room, having suffered fatal gunshot wounds. There were no signs of forced entry, and the death was immediately investigated as a homicide.
