On March 20, 2023, League City police conducted a welfare check at the Staehli residence on Magnolia Estates Drive after a man failed to report to work. Upon arrival, officers observed a woman lying on the floor inside the home. After forcing entry, they discovered 57-year-old Sally Staehli and her husband, 54-year-old Lance Staehli, both deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
Weapons were recovered at the scene, leading investigators to suspect a murder-suicide, with Lance identified as the likely perpetrator.
Sally was known for her deep love of animals, which led her to work in animal rescue and welfare. She was employed at Pet Vet Baybrook Animal Hospital and volunteered for various rescue groups in the area. Her passions extended to cooking, gardening, and spending time at the beach. She is survived by her brother, a close cousin, a special aunt and uncle, and her cherished pets, all of whom have found loving new homes.
The League City Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Sally and Lance Staehli. Authorities have urged anyone with information related to this incident to contact Detective O'Neal at 281-554-1885.
