On April 10, 2023, at approximately 2 a.m., a fatal shooting occurred at Joe’s Food Mart, located in the 4200 block of Miller Avenue in southeast Fort Worth, Texas. The incident resulted in the deaths of two individuals: 18-year-old Marques Parker, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and 29-year-old Michael Charles Sansom Jr., who succumbed to his injuries at a hospital on April 12, 2023.
According to police reports, the shooting stemmed from a disagreement between Parker and an unidentified suspect. The suspect fired multiple shots, striking both Parker and Sansom Jr. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle accompanied by two other individuals.
On April 13, 2023, Fort Worth police arrested 18-year-old Aundra Taylor in connection with the double homicide. Taylor was booked on suspicion of aggravated assault; however, it remains unclear whether additional charges have been filed against him.
This tragic event marked the second fatal shooting at Joe’s Food Mart within a four-month period and contributed to a concerning pattern of violence at the location. Since January 2020, nine individuals have been shot at this convenience store, raising alarms within the community about safety and security in the area.
