On April 29, 2023, at approximately 3:11 a.m., 27-year-old Daniel Antonio Mergil was found in his vehicle after it crashed into a front yard on the 5900 block of Ameen Drive in Northeast El Paso. Upon arrival, police discovered that Mergil had sustained a gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators believe the shooting occurred near the 6100 block of Ameen Drive, close to a U-Haul storage facility. Surveillance footage cap ...
