Arbin Iglesias, a 25-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically shot and killed on February 20, 2019, while working the overnight shift at a 7-Eleven in East El Paso, Texas. The incident occurred during the course of a robbery, and Iglesias was found dead with gunshot wounds in the back office of the store. His pickup truck was stolen by the suspect, who later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a pursuit by state troopers near Junction, Texas.
The suspect, identified as
24-year-old Sharod Chavez Moore, had allegedly robbed a security guard of his gun at the Sun Metro Transfer Center the night before the murder. It is believed that Moore used the stolen gun to commit the robbery and subsequent murder. The El Paso Police Department confirmed that Moore's death was likely self-inflicted after a shootout with officers.
Following the tragic incident, Iglesias' family sought justice for his death. They hired legal representation from the law firm Scherr Legate to explore all possible avenues for finding peace and justice. The family emphasized that Iglesias was a charismatic and happy individual who loved working and was always willing to support his family. They described him as a unique brother who always put others before himself and made everyone around him laugh.
The case drew significant attention, and the family's attorney, Maxey Scherr, highlighted the need for better safety precautions in convenience stores to protect employees from such dangerous situations. The family held a mass in Iglesias' name on what would have been his 26th birthday and gathered to remember him with yellow flowers and fond memories.
While Moore's death ended the immediate threat, the investigation continued to ensure that all aspects of the case were thoroughly examined. The Texas Rangers took over the investigation, and the family remained hopeful that justice would be served for Arbin Iglesias.
