On May 5, 2023, 19-year-old Gavin Khiem Tran and his friend, 20-year-old Khoi Tran, were fatally shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 8217 Fulton Street in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred around 6 p.m.
According to the Houston Police Department, the two men were attempting to purchase shoes from an individual when the transaction turned deadly. Witnesses reported seeing three unidentified Black males in a gray or silver Dodge SUV at the scene.
One of the men exited the vehicle, produced a rifle, and opened fire on Gavin and Khoi, resulting in their immediate deaths.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the murders of Gavin and Khoi Tran. The Houston Police Department continues to investigate the case and urges anyone with information to contact their Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or to speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
Gavin Tran was remembered as a determined young man who had recently obtained his real estate license and was excited about pursuing a career in land brokerage. He enjoyed boxing, biking around Houston, and lived life to the fullest. His family and friends mourn his untimely passing and continue to seek justice for his death.
