On October 9, 2023, at approximately 2:40 p.m., 49-year-old Soldem Harris was fatally shot in the parking lot of a convenience store located at 6303 Eastland Street in Houston, Texas. Responding officers from the Houston Police Department (HPD) found Harris suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical assistance and transportation to Ben Taub General Hospital, Harris was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
The initial investigation revealed that Harris had engaged in a physical altercation with a male suspect, which escalated to the fatal shooting. The suspect, described as a heavy-set Black male, fled the scene accompanied by two other individuals in a gray 2023 Toyota Camry bearing Texas license plates TFR2377. Surveillance photos released by HPD on October 10 aided in identifying the primary suspect as 30-year-old Javunte Jerome Bradshaw. Subsequently, on October 27, Bradshaw was charged with murder in the 487th State District Court.
On November 27, HPD's Northeast Crime Suppression Team apprehended Bradshaw during a routine traffic stop in the 7900 block of Safebuy Street. He was arrested without incident and found in possession of a firearm, leading to an additional charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Bradshaw's arrest marked a significant development in the case, but the investigation continued to identify other individuals involved.
Further inquiries led to the identification of a second suspect, 21-year-old Jeremi Orange. Evidence suggested that Orange had handed the firearm to Bradshaw moments before Harris was shot. After obtaining a warrant, HPD officers arrested Orange on January 5, 2024. He was subsequently charged with murder in the 487th State District Court. Both Bradshaw and Orange now face serious legal consequences as the judicial process unfolds.
