On May 14, 2023, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting in the 900 block of Hoke Smith Drive in the Oak Cliff neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers found 49-year-old Carlos Gonzalez with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to Methodist Central Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
