D'Angelo Reshard Roane, a 29-year-old African American man from Dallas, Texas, was tragically found dead from a gunshot wound inside his apartment at the East Town Apartments on April 3, 2021. Neighbors reported hearing possible gunfire around 11 p.m. the night before his body was discovered. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Following the incident, a 16-year-old boy named Keonte Malik Moore was arrested and charged with Roane's murder. Moore, who was a friend and mentor to Roane, allegedly shot him in the back of the head while visiting his apartment. After committing the crime, Moore stole Roane's vehicle, car keys, and the murder weapon, attempting to flee the state. However, he was apprehended at Dallas Love Field Airport while trying to leave for Chicago.

During the investigation, police found Roane's vehicle hidden in a nearby parking garage and discovered the murder weapon and car keys in Moore's apartment. Surveillance footage and other evidence led to Moore's conviction. In January 2025, Moore was sentenced to 45 years in prison for the murder of D'Angelo Roane.

The case drew significant attention and emotional responses from the community, with many expressing their grief and calling for justice. Roane was remembered as a loving and caring individual who was deeply missed by his family and friends.
