Smith Jr. of Shallowater; grandmothers, Margarita Camargo and Pauline Gonzales of Shallowater; and brothers, Matthew Smith of Shallowater, Andrew Smith (and wife Lisett) serving in the U.S. Air Force in Minot, North Dakota, and Brandon Smith serving in the U.S. Navy in Norfolk, Virginia. Additionally, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Alfredo Camargo Sr. and Matilde Gonzales, and uncles, James Franklin Smith Sr. and Daniel Lorenzo Camargo.
Visitation services were held on June 21, 2023, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels, including a Rosary. A Funeral Mass took place on June 22, 2023, at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Shallowater, followed by interment at Resthaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, reflecting Smith's dedication to his fellow veterans.
