On June 13, 2023, at approximately 12:40 a.m., the Wichita Falls Police Department responded to a welfare check near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Carolina Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 54-year-old Martin Servantes lying in the grass near the intersection. A passerby had found Servantes' body and alerted authorities. The victim had sustained a fatal gunshot wound, and the incident was promptly classified as a homicide.
