On June 29, 2023, in Leming, Texas, approximately 30 miles south of San Antonio, authorities responded to a house fire on Peach Tree Street. Inside the residence, they discovered the body of 43-year-old Laura West, who had been fatally shot. Her roommate, 33-year-old Mary Heinz, was missing, though her personal belongings and vehicle remained at the scene.
