On July 9, 2023, the San Juan Police Department responded to a distress call at Palm City Mobile Estates, located at 700 Business 83 in San Juan, Texas. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of 33-year-old Leeann M. Ramirez and her husband, 38-year-old Felipe Ramirez, lying in front of a mobile home, both with fatal gunshot wounds to the upper body. A shotgun was found beside them.
Interim Police Chief Leandro Sifuentes reported that the incident was a murder-suicide, with Felipe identified as the aggressor. The investigation revealed that a domestic dispute escalated, leading Felipe to fatally shoot Leeann before turning the gun on himself.
Leeann was a dedicated mother of five children and an active community member. She served as a pageant director for the city of San Juan, participated in the San Juan Lions Committee, and coached various sports for the San Juan Parks and Recreation Department. Additionally, she was a troop leader for Girl Scouts Troop #125 and managed the San Juan RV Parks.
Felipe's obituary indicates that he is survived by his parents, siblings, and extended family. Both he and Leeann were laid to rest following services held in San Juan.
The tragic event has left the local community in mourning, particularly affecting the couple's five children, who are now left without their parents. Authorities have concluded the investigation, confirming the incident as a murder-suicide, with no further suspects involved.
