On July 9, 2023, the San Juan Police Department responded to a distress call at Palm City Mobile Estates, located at 700 Business 83 in San Juan, Texas. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of 33-year-old Leeann M. Ramirez and her husband, 38-year-old Felipe Ramirez, lying in front of a mobile home, both with fatal gunshot wounds to the upper body. A shotgun was found beside them.
