On the night of July 18, 2023, 19-year-old Manuel Alejandro Guzmán Jr. was fatally shot in a residence on Lulu Street in north Fort Worth, Texas. Officers responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m., discovering Guzmán and another 19-year-old male, Jesus Rodriguez, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to local hospitals in critical condition, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
Investigations revealed that Guzmán and Rodriguez were at the residence, with Guzmán attempting to sell marijuana. A prospective buyer, identified as 18-year-old Labertrand Bell, arrived at the scene. After inspecting the product, Bell allegedly attempted to rob Guzmán, leading to a gunfight that resulted in the deaths of both Guzmán and Rodriguez.
Bell was arrested on August 13, 2023, and charged with capital murder of multiple persons in connection with the Fort Worth case. At the time of his arrest, Bell was also a suspect in another homicide that occurred on August 7, 2023, in Forest Hill, Texas. He was being held in the Tarrant County Jail with bond set at more than $1 million.
