On September 2, 2023, at approximately 5:05 p.m., 21-year-old Christopher Arellano was fatally shot while working on a car at a business located at 7127 Alder Drive in Houston, Texas. Witnesses reported that a Hispanic male, about 6 feet tall with a slim build, wearing a black hoodie and khaki pants, approached Arellano and opened fire multiple times before fleeing the scene on foot.
Arellano was transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle and was pronounced deceased on September 3, 2023.
Following a thorough investigation, authorities identified 20-year-old Jose Manuel Camacho as the suspect in the case. On March 22, 2024, the Houston Police Department's South Gessner Crime Suppression Team arrested Camacho without incident. He has been charged with murder in the 174th State District Court.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and investigators have not disclosed any further details regarding the relationship between Arellano and Camacho. The arrest brings a significant development to the case, offering a sense of progress in the pursuit of justice for Arellano's family and the community.
