Keshaun Edmond, an 18-year-old from La Marque, TX, was fatally shot on October 14, 2023, at a Whataburger restaurant. The incident occurred during an altercation involving several individuals.
According to police reports, Edmond was seated at a table with two other juveniles when the assault began. One of the individuals involved in the assault, Anthony Samuels, was armed with a handgun.
In response to the assault, one of the juveniles at the table with Edmond shot at both Edmond and Samuels. Edmond suffered multiple gunshot wounds and tragically died at the scene. Samuels was shot in the leg and transported to UTMB Galveston for treatment; he survived his injuries.
Following the incident, three teenagers were arrested in connection to the shooting. Anthony Samuels, 18, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The two juveniles who were with Edmond at the time of the shooting were also arrested. One of the juveniles, a 16-year-old, was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The other juvenile, a 17-year-old, was charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
