On October 28, 2023, a tragic incident unfolded in Texarkana, Texas, resulting in the death of 26-year-old Deandre Fezell. The event occurred during a party held in the back room of a business located in the 700 block of N. Stateline Avenue. A physical altercation erupted between Fezell and another attendee, 26-year-old Devon Hayden, reportedly over a dice game. The confrontation escalated when Hayden allegedly drew a pistol and shot Fezell, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The violence did not end there. In the ensuing chaos, another individual, 21-year-old Breoskii Warren, allegedly retrieved a rifle and began firing. His gunfire struck multiple individuals, including 30-year-old Alqadis Williams and 22-year-old Jayla Hampton, both of whom later died from their injuries at a local hospital. Three other attendees sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.
In the aftermath, law enforcement swiftly identified and apprehended the suspects involved. Hayden was arrested and charged with the murder of Fezell. Warren, who initially evaded capture, turned himself in to authorities on November 1, 2023. He faces two counts of murder for the deaths of Williams and Hampton, as well as a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for injuring Hayden during the shootout.
Both suspects are currently held in the Bowie County jail, with Hayden's bond set at $3 million and Warren's at $6.25 million. If convicted, they each face potential sentences ranging from five to 99 years, or life imprisonment. The cases have been assigned to 102nd District Judge Jeff Addison.
This tragic event has left the Texarkana community mourning the loss of three young individuals and grappling with the aftermath of a violent altercation that escalated beyond control.
