On January 24, 2024, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Houston police officers responded to a shooting incident at 9923 Valley Club Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered 40-year-old Roger Boutte unresponsive in the driveway, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department pronounced Boutte deceased at the scene. A second victim, a 41-year-old man, was found nearby with a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Investigators identified 36-year-old Schwin Rashad Hadnot as the primary suspect. Hadnot, who appeared to be intoxicated on an unknown substance at the time, was present with the victims prior to the shooting. He required immediate medical attention and was taken to a hospital. Following his treatment, Hadnot was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 177th State District Court.
The investigation, led by HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective S. Overstreet, revealed that Hadnot had been in the company of Boutte and the other victim before the incident occurred. Details regarding the motive behind the shooting have not been disclosed. The swift identification and apprehension of Hadnot were facilitated by the collaborative efforts of the Houston Police Department and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
