On February 19, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., 38-year-old Coralyn Vershae Hunt was found shot to death inside her residence on Spindlewood Drive in Fort Bend County, Texas. The tragic discovery was made by her 17-year-old daughter, who, along with Hunt's two other children, was present in the home at the time of the incident but remained unharmed.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office launched an immediate investigation into the homicide.
Through their efforts, detectives identified 42-year-old Anthony Sorel Haywood as a suspect. Haywood had been in a dating relationship with Hunt prior to the incident. On March 1, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Haywood was apprehended by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force in the 6700 block of Long Point Road in Houston. He was subsequently charged with murder and is being held on a $1 million bond.
Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan commented on the case, stating, "It's a tragedy when someone's life is taken away, especially when at the hands of another human being." He extended gratitude to the investigators for their diligent work in identifying the suspect and to the task force for their assistance in the arrest.
