On April 6, 2024, in Cedar Park, Texas, 42-year-old Jennifer Diaz was found deceased in a car parked in the driveway of a residence on Fawnfield Drive. She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Upon arrival, Cedar Park police suspected that the shooter was inside the home. A shelter-in-place alert was issued for nearby residents, and the Central Texas Regional SWAT team was deployed.
After several hours, SWAT officers entered the residence around 1:45 a.m. on April 7 and discovered 37-year-old Chris Molnar deceased inside. Authorities have classified the incident as a murder-suicide, with Molnar identified as the perpetrator who fatally shot Diaz before taking his own life.
Jennifer's husband, Tony Diaz, revealed that he and Jennifer had been separated for about a year, and he was unaware of her new relationship with Molnar until the night of the tragedy. He described Jennifer as a selfless individual with a charitable heart, dedicated to helping others, and a loving mother to their children. Tony expressed disbelief over the incident, noting that such events seem like they "don't happen in real life. But it does. Most definitely does."
Tony also mentioned that police informed him Molnar used an assault rifle to kill Jennifer and had multiple firearms prepared, suggesting an intention to engage in a confrontation with law enforcement.
