On the evening of April 8, 2024, 23-year-old Diamond Thornton was fatally shot at an apartment complex located at 8951 Braesmont Drive in Houston, Texas. Houston Police Department (HPD) officers responded to reports of a shooting around 10 p.m. and discovered Thornton unresponsive in a walkway, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department pronounced her deceased at the scene.
At the time of the incident, Thornton's 3-year-old son was inside the apartment. Family members indicated that she had been caring for her son while her spouse was at work. Upon arrival, police found the apartment door shut and locked, with the child unharmed inside. Thornton's spouse, Nene Carr, expressed distress upon learning of the situation, noting that calls to Thornton's phone went unanswered, leading to growing concern.
As of now, there have been no arrests made in connection with Thornton's death. The HPD has not identified any suspects or established a motive for the shooting. Authorities are actively seeking information from the public to aid in their investigation.
