On the evening of April 8, 2024, 23-year-old Diamond Thornton was fatally shot at an apartment complex located at 8951 Braesmont Drive in Houston, Texas. Houston Police Department (HPD) officers responded to reports of a shooting around 10 p.m. and discovered Thornton unresponsive in a walkway, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department pronounced her deceased at the scene.
