On April 27, 2024, 22-year-old Azariah Joshua Rosas Feliciano was fatally shot near the intersection of Travis Street and Main Avenue in San Antonio, Texas. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. as Feliciano and his friends were leaving a Fiesta event downtown. They had offered a ride to two women they met that night, who had earlier been involved in an altercation with another group.
As they traveled eastbound on Travis Street in the bed of a pickup truck, they encountered the same group at a red light. Two men from the group on the sidewalk drew handguns and opened fire on the truck, striking Feliciano and the two women. Feliciano succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while the women recovered from life-threatening injuries.
In the aftermath of the shooting, San Antonio Police launched an investigation, releasing images captured by the victims that showed the suspects. Crime Stoppers received multiple tips that led to the identification of the shooters. By October, authorities arrested 19-year-old Muslim Thaer Abdalridha, charging him with murder. A second suspect, Isaiah Gomez, was also identified and arrested in connection with the shooting. Both individuals now face charges related to Feliciano's death.
Feliciano's family expressed relief at the arrests but emphasized that it does not bring back their loved one. His mother, April, described him as a loving son and brother, noting the profound impact of his loss on their family. She also highlighted the prevalence of gun violence among youth, underscoring the senselessness of the act. In a gesture of hope amid tragedy, Feliciano's organ donations have saved at least eight lives, providing a measure of solace to his grieving family.
