On April 28, 2024, at approximately 2 a.m., 13-year-old Tristian Phelps was fatally shot in Marshall, Texas. Witnesses reported hearing 20 to 30 gunshots during the incident.
In the days following the shooting, law enforcement agencies, including the Marshall Police Department and the Texas Rangers, conducted a thorough investigation. Their efforts led to the arrest of three individuals in connection with Phelps' death.
The suspects, all residents of Marshall, were taken into custody and charged with murder.
A Harrison County grand jury subsequently indicted the three men, formally charging them in relation to the murder of Phelps.
The community responded to Phelps' tragic death with an outpouring of grief and support. A balloon release was held in his honor, where family and friends gathered to pay their respects and celebrate his life.
Funeral services for Phelps were conducted at The Kingdom Center in Marshall, with visitation held at Mt. Zion Spiritual Church #2. He was laid to rest at Nichols Cemetery.
As the legal proceedings continue, the Marshall community remains united in seeking justice for Tristian Phelps, whose life was tragically cut short.
