On April 28, 2024, at approximately 2 a.m., 13-year-old Tristian Phelps was fatally shot in Marshall, Texas. Witnesses reported hearing 20 to 30 gunshots during the incident.

In the days following the shooting, law enforcement agencies, including the Marshall Police Department and the Texas Rangers, conducted a thorough investigation.
