On April 28, 2024, at approximately 8:55 p.m., Tony Harrison, a 30-year-old resident of Houston, Texas, was fatally shot at an apartment complex located at 10630 Beechnut Street. Responding officers from the Houston Police Department (HPD) and paramedics from the Houston Fire Department found Harrison unresponsive, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that prior to the shooting, Harrison was involved in a verbal altercation with an unidentified individual. The confrontation escalated when the suspect retrieved a firearm and, during a physical struggle, shot Harrison multiple times before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction. At the time, there was no detailed description of the suspect.
Following an extensive investigation, HPD detectives identified 20-year-old Isaac Dornell Pettway as the primary suspect in Harrison's death. Pettway was arrested without incident on May 20, 2024, and subsequently charged with murder in the 208th State District Court. He was booked into the Harris County Jail, where he awaited trial.
Tony Harrison, affectionately known as TJ, was born on December 20, 1993. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a graduate of Carver Magnet High School, where he was active in the choir. Harrison was known for his infectious smile and was involved in various sports during his youth, including track and field, football, and baseball. He was baptized at the Community of Faith under Bishop James Dixon. Harrison's life was tragically cut short, leaving behind family and friends who mourn his untimely passing.
