On June 4, 2024, at approximately 2 a.m., Fort Worth police responded to a shooting incident at a residence in the 3800 block of North Elm Street, near Meacham Airport. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims with multiple gunshot wounds: 24-year-old Jaime Francisco Reyna and his father, 46-year-old Jaime Ignacio Reyna. The elder Reyna was pronounced dead at the scene, while his son was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
Investigations revealed that an altercation had occurred inside the residence between the victims and one or more suspects, leading to the fatal shootings. In the ensuing months, two individuals were arrested in connection with the double homicide. On June 10, 2024, 42-year-old Antonio Dowlen was apprehended and charged with capital murder involving multiple persons. He was booked into the Tarrant County Jail with a bond set at $850,000. In addition to the capital murder charge, Dowlen faced charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance, manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, and evading arrest or detention.
Subsequently, on September 4, 2024, 21-year-old Zawon Hinton was arrested and also charged with capital murder of multiple persons in connection with the same case. He was booked into the Fort Worth City Jail.
The tragic deaths of Jaime Francisco Reyna and his father have left the Fort Worth community in mourning, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident to ensure justice is served for the victims and their families.
