On June 7, 2024, at approximately 12:25 a.m., 29-year-old Keylon Brown was fatally shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 1300 block of West Wheatland Road in Dallas, Texas. Brown had just parked his vehicle after dropping off his family and was retrieving items from his car when he was ambushed by two suspects dressed in all-black clothing. One assailant was armed with a handgun, the other with a rifle. A third suspect waited nearby in the courtyard.
The assailants approached Brown from behind and, without warning, shot him. After the attack, all three suspects fled the scene in a silver sedan, believed to be a 2004 Lexus, heading westbound on West Wheatland Road.
Emergency responders transported Brown to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Brown was a father of two, including a newborn, and was known to be working towards improving his life for the sake of his family.
As of December 27, 2024, the Dallas Police Department has not announced any arrests or identified any suspects in connection with Brown's murder. Investigators have released surveillance footage showing the suspects and the silver sedan in hopes of garnering public assistance. Detectives have urged anyone with information to come forward to help bring justice for Brown and his grieving family.
