On the night of June 18, 2024, 27-year-old Ariel Jade Martinez and her partner, 31-year-old Jonathan David Medrano, were fatally shot while driving on San Antonio's West Side. The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. in the 4300 block of West Martin Street. According to preliminary reports, an unknown assailant in another vehicle opened fire on Martinez and Medrano's car, causing it to veer off the road and crash into a drainage ditch.
