On June 19, 2024, at approximately 1:03 a.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a call from a man stating, "My wife is in the bedroom. I'm outside." Officers arrived at the residence on Macmora Road in North Austin and discovered 58-year-old Suzanne Bailey inside with a gunshot wound to the head. She was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased at 9:10 a.m. In the backyard, officers found 53-year-old Joshua Lockwood, also with a gunshot wound to the head, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations by APD homicide detectives and crime scene specialists revealed that Lockwood had fatally shot his wife, Suzanne Bailey, before taking his own life. The incident was classified as a murder-suicide, marking Austin's 26th homicide of 2024.

Authorities have urged anyone with additional information to contact the Austin Police Department or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
