On July 18, 2024, at approximately 4:40 p.m., Killeen Police Department officers responded to a shooting incident in the 2100 block of North W.S. Young Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered 21-year-old Willie Bibbins IV unconscious, suffering from a gunshot wound. Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson pronounced him deceased at 6:30 p.m.
Willie, born on April 14, 2003, in Gulfport, Mississippi, had recently celebrated his 21st birthday.
He was known for his entrepreneurial spirit and was employed by Tesla, among other companies. Willie aspired to become a business owner and had interests in fashion modeling. He was also a regular at the 254Kascade skating rink, where he enjoyed roller skating.
Following the incident, the Killeen Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division identified Willie as the victim. Detectives have been actively investigating the homicide and have urged anyone with information to contact Bell County Crime Stoppers. As of the latest available reports, no suspect information has been released, and no arrests have been made in connection with Willie's death.
In the wake of this tragedy, Willie's family organized a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral and burial expenses. The funeral service was held on August 9, 2024, at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, Texas.
The community continues to mourn the loss of a young man whose life was tragically cut short, while authorities persist in their efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
