On July 20, 2024, at approximately 1:22 a.m., Kerrville Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting at an apartment in the 2800 block of Hunt Street in Kerrville, Texas. Upon arrival, they discovered 36-year-old Deanna LeAnn Arispe with gunshot wounds. She was transported to Peterson Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. At the time of the shooting, three children and two adults were present in the apartment; fortunately, no one else was injured.
Investigators quickly identified 29-year-old Gabriel Rene Aleman as the primary suspect. Evidence from a nearby doorbell camera reportedly captured Aleman firing into the apartment through the front door, striking Arispe. A warrant for his arrest on a murder charge was issued, with bond set at $1 million.
Aleman fled the scene and was later located in San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio Police Department's Street Crimes Unit, in coordination with the Texas Rangers and Kerrville Police Department, apprehended Aleman without incident near the 9400 block of Wurzbach Road late Saturday evening. He was booked into the Bexar County Jail on a murder charge, with bond set at $1 million.
Additionally, 31-year-old Casandra Carin Moreno was arrested for allegedly assisting Aleman in evading capture by providing him transportation to San Antonio following the shooting. She was charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution of a known felon, a third-degree felony, and booked into the Kerr County Jail.
The investigation into Arispe's death is ongoing, and authorities have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as more information becomes available.
